WWE Friday Night SmackDown overnight ratings drop below 2 million viewers for season premiere edition

The overnight ratings are in for Friday’s WWE SmackDown episode from Orlando, Florida at the Amway Center.

The episode drew an average of 1.987 million viewers, which is down from last Friday’s SmackDown episode that did an average of 2.087 million viewers.

The first hour saw it pull in 1.978 million viewers while hour two did 1.995 million viewers. Last week’s show did 2.156 million viewers in hour one while hour two did 2.017 million viewers.

It also pulled in an average of 0.50 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which was #2 for the night. That down from the 0.60 rating in the 18-49 demographic the show did last week.

Roman Reigns defending the Universal Championship against Braun Strowman served as the main event. WWE hyped this episode as of the season premiere of the show.

SmackDown was in the middle of the pack for the night among the networks in viewership. It was behind 20/20, Magnum P.I., Blue Bloods, Shark Tank, Dateline NBC, and other series among the top shows on network television.

It should be noted that this is the overnight number and the actual rating won’t be released until Monday.
