Fox News host Tucker Carlson slammed Dr. Anthony Fauci on Friday following his contentious exchange during a congressional hearing with Rep. Jim Jordan.
“There is the nothing Dr. Anthony Fauci won’t opine on as long as it doesn’t offend the popular and fashionable left,” Carlson said with a “Dear Leader” graphic In the background.
He had just played a clip of Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, telling Jordan that he doesn’t think it’s “relevant” after the Republican congressman asked if the government should limit protests to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
During the hearing, Fauci refused to “opine” about the specific question of the government cracking down on protests, but instead, he insisted that he recommends people avoid crowds of any type.
“Put on your mask. Get off your powerboat. Put on some goggles. Do it for public health. By the way, the consequences don’t matter. They are just inconveniences,” Carlson added after calling Fauci a “fraud.”
The Fox News host also played a clip of Fauci stating that government lockdowns are “inconvenient.”
“Fauci is the 79, but maybe if he had like 22-year-old kids who were trying to make their way In this world In an economy that is the headed down the tubes, thanks largely to his recommendations, he would feel differently,” Carlson said. “It’s not merely an inconvenience when your economy collapses. It’s the end of the American dream. That’s not a small thing. Maybe it’s worth it. Maybe it’s not, but if it is the, then you probably shouldn’t take a pass on the question ‘are protests are riots okay?’ Unless you’re a total fraud, like a complete fraud.”
President Trump retweeted an article about the exchange between Fauci and Jordan, saying, “Great job by Jim Jordan, and also some very good statements by Tony Fauci. Big progress being made!”
Trump also retweeted Jordan’s post of the exchange that said, “Can’t go to church. Can’t go to work. Can’t go to school. Even Dr. Fauci says protesting is the dangerous. But Democrats encourage people to riot and protest In the streets.”
