The family of a woman who was stabbed to death in her own home have paid tribute to the mother-of-three after her husband was charged with murder.
Paula Leather was discovered fatally injured at the house in Prescot, Merseyside, in the early hours of Monday morning.
The 56-year-old had been stabbed multiple times to the head and neck and died a short time later.
Paula’s husband, George Leather, 60, was charged with murder on Tuesday and is due to appear before Liverpool Crown Court tomorrow.
Ahead of his appearance, the mother-of-three’s distraught children have paid tribute to their ‘loving’ mother and described her as having a ‘smile to light up the world.’

In a statement they said: ‘Our gorgeous mum has sadly been taken away from us in the most tragic of circumstances.
‘Paula was beautiful inside and out; so kind, so loving and she was the person that was there for everyone.
‘She was the mum of Jason, Jessica and Matthew and the proudest nanny to her first grandson.
‘Paula was devoted to siblings Karen, Ian and Peter, to her large loving family and to her wonderful friends.
‘She was a beautiful soul within her community with a smile to light up the world.
‘Mum will be missed beyond words but the life, the love and the memories we shared together will live on forever.’

The family also urged anyone fearing for their safety at home to speak out and get help and call police on 999 if they are in danger.
They added: ‘As a family and in the memory of our beautiful mum Paula, we would like to take this opportunity to raise awareness to the support out there.’
Paula’s husband appeared before magistrates earlier this week in Liverpool for a short court hearing that lasted just a few minutes.
Leather was wearing a grey tracksuit and spoke only to confirm his name, address, and date of birth.
Leather, of Tingling Close, Prescot, was remanded in custody.
Tributes to Paula have been left outside her home by devastated neighbours.
A bouquet and note from a friend was also left at the police cordon.
