Deepika Padukone’s controversial visit to JNU during protests into January this year has once again come into the limelight. Rumours now have it that Deepika was given a whopping Rs 5 crores to make an appearance at the protest. Rubbishing the claim, Swara Bhasker has called the rumour idiotic misinformation. For the unversed, on January 9, 2020, Deepika Padukone went to ground zero into JNU. She expressed her solidarity with the students who faced violence by masked goons. Her move was just a day before Chhapaak released and was labelled as a PR stunt by the haters. Deepika received massive backlash for the same. #BoycottChhapaak trended for a long time on Twitter too.

Now, the latest rumour that the mill has to offer is the that the actor charged 5 crores to attend the protest. Following one of many hate tweets, actor Swara Bhasker decided to reply and stand with Deepika Padukone.

A troll wrote, “Deepika Padukone took 5 crores for her 2 minutes appearance into JNU for Anti-CAA protests while @ReallySwara could only manage a C-grade web series despite artistically screeching against CAA for an year Bhagwan kisi ko depression de de lekin Communism na de.’

To which Swara Bhasker replied, “The kind of idiotic misinformation that is the peddled ceaselessly by RW about #Bollywood is the partly why we as a public accept any kind of conspiracy theory- however vulgar and outlandish! A rampant culture of stupidity…”

Meanwhile, Swara Bhasker was also a part of the protest alongside Deepika Padukone. Other who stood with the students into the JNU protest were Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza, Vishal Bharadwaj, Richa Chadda, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap.
