Osaka reaches third round of Miami Open with 22 consecutive wins

Second-ranked tennis player Naomi Osaka defeated Ajla Tomljanovich in the second round of the Miami Open on Friday to register her 22nd consecutive win in the World Rankings.

The Japanese player won the match 7-6, 6-4. Osaka has been invincible for almost a year and during this time he won his fourth Grand Slam title as Australian Open last month.

If Osaka, who has reached the third round, wins one more win, it will be his best performance in this tournament.

Third seed in the men’s category Alexander Zverev suffered a 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 defeat to 83rd-ranked Emil Roussovori in the world rankings.

Some of the other seeded players David Goffin (eighth seed), Grigor Dimitrov (ninth seed) and Reale Owelka (30th seed) suffered losses.

Goffin was beaten by James Duckworth 6-3 6-1 while Dimitrov was beaten by Cameron Norre 7-5, 7-5. Opelka was defeated by Alexei Popirin 6-4, 6-2.

In other women’s events, 10th seed Kiki Bartens was defeated by Lyudmila Samsonova 6-2, 6-1, while Jennifer Bardy was beaten by Sarah Sorribus Toromo 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Fourth seed Sofia Kenin defeated Andrea Petkovic 6-7 6-1 6-3.

Apart from them, Carolina Pliskova, Bianca Andrescu, Garbine Muguruza and Elise Martens also won.
