Amy Mottram was waiting at a set of traffic lights at Manly, on Sydney’s northern beaches, on Thursday night when she saw the child in the front seat.

She told Daily Mail Australia she looked over her shoulder at the car next to her where she immediately spotted the unrestrained infant.

‘There was a woman passenger who had the child on her lap, but was not holding onto the child in any way and allowing her to climb up onto the dash,’ she said.

Ms Mottram told her friend to pull out her phone and take photos of the unbelievable sight before she posted them to Facebook.

The photos show an unrestrained toddler standing on the lap of a woman passenger and leaning against the dashboard.

Ms Mottram said she then tried to make a left hand turn when the lights turned green.

Though she says the car next to her began to merge into her lane and almost connected with her vehicle.

‘I pressed my horn to warn them, that they were about to hit me, unable to slam my breaks on as there was a car behind me,’ she said.

‘They swerved onto the opposite side of the road then re entered their lane, slowed down then entered the lane behind me.’

Outraged drivers have taken to the Facebook post to condemn the driver saying they had placed the child’s life in danger.

‘If that airbag deploys , the toddler is going through the rear window,’ one person said.

Ms Mottram claimed she had taken the photos to local police but was told there was little they could do.

‘The officer said they can’t do anything if they don’t catch them [the driver] in the act,’ she claimed.

Daily Mail Australia contacted New South Wales Police for comment.
