A family patriarch was found stabbed to death in Queens on Thursday morning, and three relatives were lying nearby, unconscious and barely alive, the police said.
The police arrested the 30-year-old son of the slain man and took him to a hospital for a psychological evaluation.
At 6:30 a.m., the police responded to a call of a person in distress in an apartment inside 221-15 Hempstead Avenue in the Queens Village neighborhood. The officers encountered a grisly scene: a 72-year-old man with fatal stab wounds to his chest and three relatives on the floor with faint pulses, the police said.
It was unclear what led to the three family members’ injuries, but the police said they were investigating the possibility that the relatives had been poisoned.
