Poker is a card game of chance in which players try to make the best hand possible from a set of cards. It is one of the most popular card games in the world, and has been played internationally for centuries.<\/p>\n
The game begins when a dealer deals cards to each player, usually face down. After the initial deal, a series of betting rounds occurs, with each round distributing a different number of cards to the players. The last round, called the showdown, is when each player must reveal their cards to see who has the best hand.<\/p>\n
Standard poker hands include: High Card, One Pair, Two Pairs, Three of a Kind, Four of a Kind, Full House, Straight, Royal Flush, and Ace King. The highest single card wins the hand.<\/p>\n
In a fixed-limit game, a limit is usually placed on the amount that a player may bet or raise by. Generally, this limit is set before the draw in Draw Poker, and raised again after the draw in Stud Poker (as well as whenever any player\u2019s exposed cards have a pair or better showing).<\/p>\n
Rules vary according to the variant being played. In most stud variants, each player is dealt a total of 7 cards, with the goal being to create the best 5-card hand possible out of them.<\/p>\n
