The first step to playing poker is to decide how much money you are willing to put into the pot. This amount is called your “ante.” Usually this is a small bet, but it can also be more than $1.<\/p>\n
Next, the dealer deals cards to each player in rotation from left to right. This is done until a jack appears.<\/p>\n
Depending on the rules of the game, a player may be required to place an initial amount of money into the pot before the cards are dealt. These forced bets are called antes, blinds, and bring-ins.<\/p>\n
Once the ante is in, each player is dealt two cards that they must keep secret from their opponents. Then, they can choose to fold (not play), check, or raise.
